Everything that’s wrong with DK PVP

I could probably write a 10 page essay on why DK’s suck at PVP, but fortunately Euripedes has done just that.
It would be nice if Blizzard actually read that. I don’t arena myself, but a little bit of tooling about in Battlegrounds over the past couple weeks as an experiment in DK PVP viability has [...]

What do the Cataclysm Stat changes mean for DK’s?

Big news of the day is Blizzard’s clarification of how stats will be changing in Cataclysm. Long and short of it, Defense rating is gone, Armor Penetration is gone, Block Value is gone, Parry reworked and a couple other notables.
For us, the big news is Haste, which has been alleged will affect our rune cooldowns. [...]

On Raid Difficulty

I was ruminating over the difficulty of WoW yesterday, and as luck would have it, a blue post over at MMO champion caught my eye.
Players try to play that card a lot, that skill isn’t a big deal because the mechanics are all pretty easy to understand, and therefore it’s the class mechanics that are [...]

Blue Girls = Profit?

So I’ve noticed a trend. If your movie or game has blue alien girls in it, you will make a zillion dollars.
Cases in point:
The Na’Vi

The most recent massive scifi smash hit, Avatar, pretty much revolves around blue girls. Oh, there’s blue guys too, but no-one really cares about them. It’s all about Neytiri getting all [...]

If you could do it all over

Spinks asks the question – if you could go back in time, what would you change?
This is something I’ve often wondered about, and I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve made my fair share of mistakes.
Most recently, I think I would have shelved the Death Knight at 58. Oh, I love the class [...]

PVP INC

Saw this trend at the tail end of BC. Blizzard breezed in and started handing out phat pvp lewts to keep people interested after they’d blasted through the content. Of course, by ‘people’ I’m talking about the hardcore here, most of the rest of us were still tooling about in early Black Temple let alone [...]

Icy Touch Spam Fail

Another thought regarding 3.3.3 PTR. If Icy Touch is going to be generating ‘a lot’ more threat, how much threat are we talking?
Will it be enough to completely forgo using Death Strike/Obliterate/Scourge Strike in our tanking rotations? Will that free up talent points by not having to sink points into Death Rune Mastery? What about [...]

20 dollars for a bag?

So, big news to DK tanks everywhere. Some more buffs are heading our way. In our current state any buffs are welcome, but let’s have a quick look at them…
1: Icy Touch will generate more threat.
More threat is welcome, particularly following the realisation that ours is somewhat gimped in Icecrown tanks to the 20% dodge [...]

Allods Launches

Allods Online launched today. Or was it yesterday. Either way, popularity seems high. This game’s been getting a chunk of hype, and not in the ‘we, the developers/publishers, say it’s good’ kind of way but rather the ‘we, the beta players, say it’s good’ kind. Which is the good kind.
My sole reservation being the free [...]

Random Thought Of the Day

Why is it that, in the future, all the aliens you meet inevitably speak fluent English?

Dropping Down the Bioware Well

I’ve been playing a lot of Mass Effect, both 1 and 2, this week, and it reminded me of a simple fact.
Blizzard’s biggest competitors when it comes to WoW are not the other MMORPG companies. Not really. Rather, it seems, every time Bioware release a new game, all the WoW bloggers seem to instantly and [...]

Has WoW peaked?

Spinks has a post on WoW sub levels.  The interesting thing to note is that for the past few months it seems WoW’s continuing upward trend has, possibly for the first time, stalled. Subscriptions seem to have stabilised at 11.5 million. For the first time since this game’s release, the number of people playing this [...]

We’re not terribly popular

Death Knights. We are the alt class, it seems.
Spinksville has a bit of napkin math looking at overall class representation in raids. Now, it’s a pretty small sample, specifically limited to the 100 first Professor Putricide 25-man kills worldwide. But if we can extrapolate the math, the theory seems to indicate that Death Knights are among [...]

Our Silver Lining

There’s a lot of aggro towards the DK class in the ever-shifting WoW metagame right now, which seems to be showing little sign of abating. We are known as ‘Dethtards’, a moniker we’ve been cursed with thanks to the fact that so many people have rolled DK alts – hey it’s 55 free levels – [...]
