Where have all the WoWfans gone…

…long time passing?
This is a completely subjective post. I have no research data or statistics to support this hunch. Yet I’m going to blather on anyway. Feel free to post flaming comments.
I frequent a few gaming sites and forums, many MMO focused, and I’ve noticed a few trends, them being:
1:More and more people selling their [...]

Slayers TBA 29 Jan?

Keen and Graev have the scoop on a rather obvious hint dropped on them by the not so subtle boyz over at Mythic.
Allow me to direct you over yonder.
To me, that’s pretty obvious. Orange hair, shaving kit? Seriously.

Among many others, one thing that WAR fans have been clamouring for is a cool Order MDPS toon. [...]

Zone Domination should have been Day 1

  • In skurmish, war

So Zone Domination is coming in Patch 1.1.1. Short version, you’ll be able to lock zones by holding all keeps and BO’s in said zone for X amount of time.
This is something the community has been asking about for a long time. Why the need to grind Scenarios and PQ’s for Victory Points? It really [...]

WAR classes for WoW players

  • In skurmish, war

It may simply be a hunch, a feeling, a groundless suspicion. Yet it seems to be that I’m hearing questions and speaking to a number of new players in WAR these days. Has Blizzard’s approach of levelling their PVE playing field  resulted in a number of bored fans now exploring other games? While it’s certainly [...]

Art Of War

Forgive the heading, this will not be about the artwork in Warhammer.
Rather, about a year or so ago I acquired two books on military strategy. One was the Art of War, by Sun Tzu, and the second, The Book of Five Rings, by Miyamoto Musashi. I acquired these classic, timeless works on war tactics and [...]

Comments backlog

Just a quick note that I am a complete noob. There were a number of comments from wayback that I hadn’t approved, and my spamfilter was blocking some notifications. I noticed this just now and approved them all. I’m going to open up commenting again since some interest in this blog has picked up, hopefully [...]

Number factoids

  • In skurmish, war

A cursory glance through the most recent Waralytics numbers reveals some interesting trends.
Just over 1 million characters. Note, not accounts.
Overall ratio is 1.3:1 in favour of Destruction. There are zero servers where Order holds a majority.
Most popular tier is Tier2 with 404 thousand toons, followed by Tier 1 with 318K, then Tier 3 with 218K [...]

Witch Elves are fun

Dinged level 10. What a difference Prowling makes. No longer a squishy, neon-target melee dps, but finally the stealthy angel of death I rolled the class to be. At one stage out o-rvr’ing our group ran into an order warband, I decloaked behind them, slaughtered their healer and 4 other players before they realised what [...]

Levelling: Moar ORVR plx

  • In skurmish, war

As more people start up alts or rerolls, more opinions surface about the ‘grindiness’ of WAR. While I believe the time-to-cap is about right, the problem lies with the perception levelling in WAR creates.
I believe the XP curve is a little assymetrical, for one, and that throws us off.  While most mmo’s are a gentle [...]

Nerf Nerfs?

  • Wednesday Jan 7,2009 12:56 PM

  • In skurmish, war

It seems the current whine of the month is Witch Elves.
Oh no. No nerfing Witch Elves, please. This has nothing to do with me rerolling as a witch elf. No sirree, not at all.

Seriously though, at least in Tier1, the last thing I feel as a Witch Elf is being overpowered. Maybe that changes down [...]

Ringing in with a Reroll

  • In skurmish, war

2009 is here in a big way, war in the Middle East, Yellowstone threatening to blow it’s top… but this is a Warhammer blog, so what doom&gloom  scenarios do we have to look forward to on that front?
Well, I for one am dumping my Order characters and rerolling Destruction.
My motivations are simple. Order is dead [...]

‘Appy new wun, now get ta bloggin!

A new year. A new age. Specifically, Age of Blogging.
Syp over at Blogwarhammer correctly identified one of the core issues with WAR’s community right now is a lack of player generated content, in the form of Internet ’spill’, so to speak. I believe that part of this problem lies with Mythic – no official forums [...]

Blogroll update

  • Tuesday Dec 30,2008 11:32 AM
  • By khayne
  • In skurmish, war

I’ve added a whole slew of warhammer-related blogs and sites to the blogroll/link (direct your gaze over yonder to the right bar, sirrah!). Also changed the theme. The whole white-text on black-background really isn’t very friendly.
If anyone spots a broken link, be so kind as to whip up an irate email and send it winging [...]
