So I recently clambered aboard the Borderlands bandwagon, a little late but better than never. It’s too early to do a review, and frankly there’s little point – everyone loves this gem of a game. But I will say this : Borderlands oozes fun and addictability.
And of course, multiplayer. You can experience Borderlands in 4 [...]

Been a while since I’ve blogged, so here’s a quick and dirty update as to why
-Been trying to learn the guitar, which eats up spare time.
-Been playing mainly WoW on the mmo front (WAR’s on the backburner, Aion got cancelled), and went back to my mage from my DK. Respecced Arcane for both pve and [...]

Allow me to link The World’s Shortest Aion Review.
This is pretty much how I feel about the game now. It’s ironic, when I started out I thought to myself, ‘hey this is a pretty game and looks pretty solid.” It’s ironic because Warhammer took most people at least a month or even three to lose [...]

Werit has some video and commentary up on his testing results on the 1.3.2 PTS server, and it looks very, very promising indeed. This may be the swinger, because as much as I’ve enjoyed Aion’s look and feel, some of the quirks and particularly the PVE grinding aspect and tiny, crowded, linear zones do not appeal. [...]

Patch 3.3 is coming and with it some rebalancing of Unholy, but little else for Death Knights. Meanwhile mages are getting single-stack Scorch and permanent Water Elemental Glyph, among others. It’s increasingly tough for me, from a powergamer point of view, to stick with the DK rather than going back to my mage.
For the past [...]

After yesterdays brief intro to the game and the subsequent bit of gushing, I spent the most part of yesterday playing Aion and getting a better feel for it. Mostly thanks to EU Battle.Net being borked and me not being able to log into WoW. Nice one Blizz.
Anyhoo, Aion is nice. I’m not going to [...]

And so it is with a heavy heart that I terminate my Warhammer account once more. Temporarily? Permanently? Too early to say.
The reason? Aion. I installed it and patched it today and was immediately impressed. And the reason was simple. It’s like WoW. Yet not. See, the game feels like WoW. It’s the closest I’ve [...]

Google.
Apple.
Mercedes Benz.
Microsoft.
Blizzard.
This might enrage some, but it’s an uncomfortable truth. The above list encapsulates some market-leading brands within their sectors, and Blizzard obviously dominates the MMO sector. Now, there have been many arguments as to why. Some believe that WoW was simply a case of, right place, right time. That’s unlikely, since Everquest had the [...]

Yesterday evening, Skurm strode into the new, revamped Onyxia’s Lair with 24 guildmates, confident in spanking that old dragon and grabbing some fat ilvl 245 loots. 5 hours (or so) later he stepped out, armor battered, Titansteel Destroyer shattered, and stumbled his way over to the inn in Orgrimmar to nurse his wounds and bruised ego.
Despite [...]

I had a chance to look through the Warhammer patch notes today, and the changes they’re promising are…severe. In a good way.
Highlights include
Massive AoE CC nerfs. Bomb groups look to be a thing of the past. While it’s likely a number of Bright Wizards will find fault with this, for the most part it’s a [...]

Today I learned that if you ever, ever use WoW as a yardstick to measure up the Latest Greatest New MMO, you will be labelled a bigot. As manifestly absurd as that notion is, it seems to be the accepted norm within the endless MMOvsMMO namecalling, mudslinging, epeen-measuring contest. Ridiculous. It’s like comparing a Mercedes to [...]

A while back on a forum I frequent, I was met with a post about Warhammer and my casual return to it with the words, ‘pick a game ffs’.
It struck me that this is something I would have said a year or two back in my days of hailing WoW as the One True King, [...]

This is an issue that came to the forefront of my thought during a recent Ulduar raid when, looking at the raid composition, I noted that the overwhelming majority of the classes represented were hybrids.
Let’s take a look at what the representation should be. Considering that 4 of the 10 classes in WoW are Pure [...]

So on Friday I collected my new rig, and it’s something of a beast. Phenom 2 955 Black Edition, 4 gigs of Corsair DDR3 ram(might upgrade that to 8gigs), 4890 Asus Top Edition graphics card (might get another and Crossfire the two) – the whole 9 yards.
Set up was easy. All I had to do [...]

I’ll be picking up my new PC a little later today and spending the weekend tweaking it, setting up some games on it and generally having a geek-out weekend. It’ll give me an opportunity to re-evaluate Warhammer Online and see if switching up from an aging, underspecced machine to something with a little more horsepower [...]
